Jane Eisbrenner was the President & CEO of JA Central Ontario from 2011 to 2020.  During that time, the organization helped thousands of young people become financially capable adults and entrepreneurs.

Over her 9-year tenure, Jane was the driving force behind creating a strong, successful organization and a dedicated team of passionate employees.

Jane truly believes in JA Central Ontario’s mission and as President she was committed to helping young people succeed. She demonstrated true leadership – creating trust, confidence and credibility in the eyes of JA’s partners, as well as supporting and nurturing employees to perform at their best.

Professionalism, transparency and the pursuit of excellence allowed Jane to grow JA Central Ontario into the relevant, vital organization it is today.

The Award:

This award celebrates a Grade 12 student who has followed Jane’s example and developed these key leadership qualities during their time with Company Program. 

The student selected for this award will receive a $4,000 scholarship for their post-secondary education, and a year-long mentorship with Jane.

Who is Eligible?

  • Candidates for this award must have completed a minimum of two years of Company Program and have been a part of the Executive team for at least one of these years.  

  • All candidates must be in Grade 12 and be moving onto a post-secondary education. *The award winner will be required to provide proof of post-secondary enrolment in order to receive the scholarship funds (i.e. invoice for tuition). If the student defers enrolment, JA Central Ontario will hold the funds in trust until the student is able to provide proof of enrolment. 

  • Candidates do not need to be nominated by an advisor as long as they meet the criteria.

Evaluation Criteria:

In addition to the above, candidates must:

  • Be able to define how they added value to their JA Company Program

  • Share a life situation where they demonstrated integrity and compassion in making a tough decision 

  • Describe a public speaking opportunity that created impact

  • Share how their confidence and leadership skills improved over their two+ year Company Program experience

Submission Requirements

Candidates must prepare the following:

  • Maximum 500-word written submission in WORD or PDF document describing how they meet the evaluation criteria above.

    • Please ensure the WORD or PDF document is formatted as follows:

      • Times New Roman with Size 12 Font

      • 1-inch margins

      • Single-spaced

  • Maximum two-minute video highlighting and summarizing your key points included in your written submission (see video tips below). 

How to Apply
  • You will be asked to create an account and will be able to save your application as you go.

  • You will be asked to include the name and email of an advisor to endorse your application. They will be sent a copy of your submission automatically by email and a request for endorsement.

  • Advisors are not required to provide any additional references beyond the endorsement.

  • Applications must be submitted through the link above. No email applications will be accepted.

Video Tips

  • Your video should be no longer than 2 minutes in length and be in mp4 format.

  • We are not looking for a professionally shot video – however, it is very important that the audio be heard clearly for judges to understand your message.

  • A video can be filmed on any device – smart phone, laptop, webcam, etc.

  • Do not include footage of anyone who hasn’t given consent to appear in the film or use copyrighted music/images. Unless you tell us otherwise, we have a right to use this video on our digital channels and in our digital marketing campaigns.

  • We want to see YOU in the video speaking so please make sure that you're on camera in the video (not just an animation or graphic).​​

Application Tip
  • Make sure you start writing your application in advance of the deadline to account for editing, reviewing, and any unforeseen circumstances. Try not to submit your answers last minute!
  • You can save your application online and return to it. It does not have to be completed all at once. 
  • If you plan on working offline, take note of the word limits to ensure that you don't run into any issues when copy and pasting your answers.
  • Check in with your advisors to determine who you should include in your application for the endorsement.

Selection Process

  • Candidates will be shortlisted during the annual Company Program Awards Judging process.

  • The final top three candidates will be shared with Jane for her decision.

  • The award winner will be announced at our virtual ventureON celebration on Wednesday, May 26th, 2021.
